SWCRC Helps Business in Wayne County, Michigan

The Mission: The Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber exists to improve the overall business climate for its members by undertaking action which stimulates economic growth, interbusiness communication and member education and promotes legislative direction.

Industrial firms join groups like the chamber for their influence in legislative issues and economic development. The Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber which covers 21 cities and township in the South eastern Michigan (or favourably know as Downriver). Chamber President Sandy Mull said, “Not only do we get involved with business related legislation that is important to our members, we also provide many avenues of networking and resources so members can grow.”

Members get listed on the web site www.swcrc.com , they are listed in the annual printed business guide and member discount program. The group offers a Green Leaders program that highlights members that are doing their part for the environment. Monthly the groups meet with government officials, human resource councils and offer an after business hours at various locations around the region.

Various education workshops are offered throughout the year as well as awards and fellowship events.

Recently the group created a You Tube channel www.youtube.com/swcrc where members can upload their elevator speeches and commercials about their businesses. The chamber is also active on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook for companies looking for other ways to promote their organizations and build networks.

”By joining groups like the Chamber, we reach different networks and influences.” Said RP Lilly LDFA Chairman. “We use services like the e-mail blast to promote our properties to the membership, we attend functions to meet potential new neighbours and we are looking forward to exhibiting at the annual Business & Lifestyles Expo in May to reach another demographic to educate them about Huron Township offerings.”
