The Detroit Region Aerotropolis Corporation recently presented its 2017 annual report to its stakeholders at the Westin Hotel at the Detroit Metro Airport. According to Robert Luce, Executive Director of the DRA, “It has been a pivotal year in transforming this group with a new leadership team and be able to show concrete results of the team’s efforts in 2017.”

Mr. William Hunter, General Manager at Brose, New Boston presented an update of the Brose facility expansion to the Huron Township Local Development Finance Authority at their September board meeting.
The expansion which resulted in the purchase of the adjacent property was in response to a projected 400% increase in their seat business. The plan includes a vertical integration with an automated high bay, a 1,000 meter paint line, employee locker rooms, additional parking for 600 new employees, preparation space for five hundred hot, employee meals and an on-site daycare facility.
Scott Cameron, accountant with the Huron Township Clerk’s office, recently was recently appointed to recording secretary for the Local Development Finance Authority of Huron Township. He replaces Joan Rattary who retired from the Township Clerk’s office this July.
While Detroit Region Aerotropolis Corporation used to be known as the Vantage Port for a short period of time, they have re-branded back to Aerotropolis and continue partnering with state/local governments like Huron Township LDFA, to bring economic development to the Metro Detroit Area.
In 2013 they attributed successes with five new businesses in Romulus, two in Van Buren Township, one in Taylor, Huron Township and Ypsilanti for a total of 1700 new jobs.

Wetland Mitigation
Everyone involved with wetland mitigation should understand what the protected resource is and where it is located. Often silt fencing is needed to filter and safe keep water within the designated area. Both contractor and property owners are responsible for complying with the Permit by Notification for the creation of wetlands. The Huron Township LDFA has been involved for years in wetland mitigation as well as wetland banks for businesses that need to relocate wetlands on LDFA properties.

According to the MEDC, nearly two-thirds of Michigan businesses surveyed describe the state as having a positive business climate and would promote Michigan as a place to start a business. The state is ranked as a Top 10 Pro-Business State and as a Top 10 state for major new and expanded corporate facilities. There are many opportunities to relocate in Huron Township.

Auburn Hills-based Brose North America Inc. has invested $97.6 million on expantion at its locations in Huron Charter Township, Warren and Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Brose, the North America subsidiary of German supplier Brose International GmbH, plans to add 388 skilled operator and technician positions to support new lines at its Michigan plants. It will also hire 87 engineers and other highly-skilled employees to support testing and technical functions, according to a Michigan Economic Development Corp. memo.
